The Golden Dress pattern

Today I am so excited to present my two new patterns that will release next week. These patterns are part of a capsule collection created by me and other designers for Project Run and Play's newest collaboration.
Meet the Golden Dress and the Lemon Tee for Project Watercolor Beach, a collection of 10 patterns that combine with each other to create a complete summer wardrobe for children everywhere.

For us, Portuguese people, the beach is part of our DNA :-) . Yeah, we love the sun, the sand and the sea and, as soon as the sun is out and the weather starts getting warmer, the beaches get full of people, young and old. Half of our country's border is shore line and beaches, and the weather makes Portugal one of Europe's favorite summer destinations.
So it wasn't hard for me to get inspired to design two "beachy" patterns for children. The Golden Dress will be a staple in my daughter's warm weather wardrobe, and the Lemon Tee will dress both my son and my daughter throughout the year.

So I present you the Golden Dress.

The Golden Dress can be worn as a cool layer to go to and from the beach, and also as a stylish and comfortable dress around town.  The Golden Dress uses woven fabrics and looks best sewn in lightweight fabrics with a nice drape. It has no closures so it's perfect for little girls to put it on and take it off by themselves. It features an elastic waist, a neckline facing, and for the biggest sizes also has a back tie. Oh, and did I mention pockets? Yes, it has side seam pockets which my daughter loved (this was our conversation during the photo shoot:)
- Me: You can put your hands in the pockets.
- Joana: What pockets?
(I showed her the pockets in the dress.)
- Joana: IT HAS POCKETS?! 😲 LUÍS, THIS HAS POCKETS!!!
I kid you not... This really happened.

The design features include:

  • short dolman sleeves

  • A-line skirt

  • elastic waist

  • no buttons or closures

  • neckline facing

  • side seam pockets

  • self-fabric waist tie

  • easy construction

The pattern includes sizes from 12 months to 14 years old (from 80cm to 164cm height), layers, a complete and easy to follow tutorial with color photographs, and three pattern files:

  • A4+letter size

  • A0 file

  • and a projector file.

I made Golden dresses for my daughter in three different woven fabrics, seersucker, cotton poplin and lightweight cotton. She loves all of them and I think these dresses will be on heavy rotation in her wardrobe this summer.

You can purchase the Golden Dress PDF pattern on Project Run and Play shop, and also be here at Suco by Susana from July 3rd.
You can find the whole Watercolor Beach pattern collection here.
Happy sewing!
Susana
