Project Jet Set: Destination Lisbon

I've showed here on the blog the two patterns that I designed for the latest Project Run and Play collaboration. But besides my own patterns I also sewed up other patterns of the Project Jet Set collection for my kids. We love to travel and visit places, and this collection has stylish and comfortable patterns to take you from the city to the beach.

For our photos we went to visit Lisbon. Living so close to a major touristic location, we're used to strolling around historical monuments like it's just another regular day. :-) But there's something special about taking some time every once in a while to really enjoy and appreciate the beautiful places around us.

So our journey starts at the marina like Luís and Joana just got out of the yacht, then they spend the day visiting the city, and end the afternoon dining at the beach.

Comfortable shorts and lightweight pants with knit tops are perfect for the warm and sunny weather, so for Joana I made the Singapore pants in a cotton/linen blend from Katia paired with a Sevilla top. Luís' favorite combination this spring is Singapore shorts with Lemon tees, so he got some shorts in lightweight denim and a Lemon tee in striped cotton jersey.

To protect from the sun, a Camper Hat is an essencial and this one has been used every day since I sewed it. The hat is reversible, on one side I used pink soft canvas and on the other this tie dye woven from Katia Fabrics. I hacked the pattern a bit to make the brim wider and Joana loves it.

Now about the Passport to Paradise Mini Backpack. I think this is the cutest bag that I've ever sewn. Really. Sewing bags is always a challenge for me (as I'm definitely more a garment sewist), and I took my time making this one, to make sure that it came out perfect, and it did. I had been saving this flowery canvas for something special and paired with the same pink canvas from the hat it made a gorgeous mini backpack. It has the perfect size to take a few essencials, a water bottle and the small purse included in the pattern.

Joana got another Sevilla top with ruffle shoulders, and Luís another Lemon tee in light blue jersey.

A third Sevilla top in white cotton jersey with the Cruise Culottes in denim blue lyocell from Katia make this super cute outfit. I LOVE these culottes and would like to have some for myself too. The pattern has different length options and sews up very quickly.

I also made a Rimini Dress in knee length, with the waist tie, in cotton jersey. This pattern is meant for knit fabrics and it has a beautiful fit with princess seams, contoured back, and faux wrap skirt. The bodice is lined and the back has a lower neckline.

We ended the afternoon at Carcavelos beach, with a swim and dinner after it. The Too Wild Dress looks beautiful made in this double gauze from Katia. The gathered skirt has a lot of volume and feels wonderful in this soft fabric.

Luís changed into another pair of Singapore shorts, in cotton/linen woven with a knit waistband, paired with a hoodie.
These garments will be used often this spring/summer, and I'm sure that I'll be sewing more of these patterns too.
