Athletic wear for my kids

My kids could use some new workout clothes for the summer. I asked my son what colour he wanted  and he said red, so that where I started, with some red shorts.

My kids could use some new workout clothes for the summer. I asked my son what colour he wanted  and he said red, so that where I started, with some red shorts. For the red shorts I used the Sunday Joggers pattern. I shortened the legs, added 1cm width around the legs, and made patch pockets in the back. For the tee I went out of my comfort zone and colour-blocked it in yellow and white. I cut the Green Tee pattern diagonally in the front and back, sewed a sleeve in each colour, and made a red neck band as contrast. I think it turned out fun.

For my daughter I wanted to make real fitness leggings for her dance class. I'm a huge fan of Greenstyle Creations for athletic wear, so I went there to look for a pattern. I liked the design and details of the Girls Stride Athletic Tights. I made it in capri length, with mid-rise waistband with hidden pocket, the plain side insert, overlapped hem bands and crotch gusset. I love these and I want some for myself!
For the top I didn't want something tight, so I went through my pattern stash and the
Primrose Girls pj's from Daydream Patterns was exactly what I was looking for. I used the same print fabric for the bodice of the top and the binding, and made the gathered body in yellow cotton jersey. To allow for more movement in dance class, I opened and lowered the armholes a bit. It turned out perfect! With some print fabric that was left I made a scrunchy.
