The Sagres Pants & Shorts pattern

Meet the Sagres pattern, a relaxed fit pants or shorts designed for woven fabrics, with elastic waist and no zip or closures for easy getting dressed.
This pattern was originally designed for One Thimble magazine issue 26 as a sailing inspired shorts for boys, for warm weather. I wanted a name related to sailing and Sagres fit perfectly, as it is the name of the Portuguese Navy's most iconic teaching ship.

The Sagres pattern is an easy sew and it's features include:

elastic waist with cord
faux fly
slightly tapered legs
medium rise
pants or shorts options
front and back patch pockets
leg tabs to use the pants rolled up
topstitching

Although it was drafted for boys it fits perfectly on girls too. Sizes included go from 3 to 14 years old (from 98cm to 170cm height), and comes with layers, a complete and easy to follow tutorial with color photographs, and three pattern files:

A4+letter size
A0 file
and a projector file.

I made a bunch of shorts for my son all sewn in chambray, and they were his favorite to wear all summer long. You can sew them in light weight and medium weight wovens such as cotton lawn, rayon, tencel twill, seersucker or light weight denim.
