Degas Dungarees sewing pattern

Meet the Degas Dungarees pattern, which was my most challenging pattern to date to design. It took months of drafting, tweaking and sewing, and numerous samples of the different variations, before I was happy with it to move into testing.

Then the pattern testers were a huge help in perfecting everything, and I'm proud to present this pattern first as part of Project Art Studio collection from Project Run and Play, and now in my shop.

The Degas Dungarees are a regular to slim fit design for woven fabrics, suitable for every season, with all the bells and whistles of ready-to-wear denim dungarees. They are designed for girls, but fit beautifully on young boys too.

The design features:

  • slightly tapered legs

  • medium height body rise

  • pants or shorts length, and skirt options

  • fully lined bib with adjustable straps

  • inset front pockets

  • patch pockets in the back with 6 different topstitch designs

  • topstitched waistband with belt loops

I love a good photo of garment insides, and I love a clean finish, and this pattern looks beautiful on the inside:

And here are the beautiful dungarees made by the testers:

Aimee Randle - @wanderingaimee

"The Degas Dungaree pattern was so simple to follow with an incredibly professional looking finish. I look forward to making many more in the future!"

Ashley Johnson - @a_bananas_co

"I am so glad I made these! I used the Degas Dungarees pattern to make some holiday outfits for the kids and they look amazing! The skirt can really be dressed up for occasions or worn as an every day jumper to school. I love working with sturdy materials that will stand up to my rough and tumble boys. The overalls are sturdy. There is a real sense of accomplishment in tackling something this professional. The instructions are easy to follow and it really just requires a simple sewing machine and good iron for pressing. Great job Susana!"

"The Degas Dungaree is one of those patterns that looks difficult & complicated. The details and quality of it's design might leave you thinking you couldn't attempt it. But let me say, it has been so well thought out with excellent instructions that it can easily be whipped up! Truly it is worth the time to make, because once you have finished, you will be amazed at how easy it was. And not only that, it has some beautiful details & sewing tricks you can add to your repertoire!!"

Femke Siebesma - @siebesew

"My first time sewing dungarees, but with the clear instructions it was easier than I thought. Love the result!"

Florena Jepson - @lalalalacollection

"I always wanted to sew dungarees but I don't quite have the courage until I tried the super tough jeans and realized I can sew dungarees too if I can sew the jeans,so, finally I've sewn one and I will sew again. Thank you for the great pattern and instructions."

Mawarita Baharudin - @mawaritabaharudin
