The new Sunday Joggers 2.0 sewing pattern
The Sunday Joggers pattern has been one of my all time favourite for my kids and their favourite to wear too. I first released the pattern three and a half years ago and, since then, I've made several pants for my boy and my girl. This is still the jogger pattern that best fits them so, when they stop fitting, they ask me to make them new ones. The good thing about a unisex style is that when my son outgrows his, I pass them to my daughter and she happily wears them (just like the dark blue ones from the pattern cover photo that are now my daughter's)
During this time I've been making some alterations and adjustments to the pattern, and my favourite are the shorts versions. So I thought it was the right time to do a major update to the pattern, and here are the Sunday Joggers 2.0.
The design has four lengths, a narrower waistband with no cord for the smaller sizes (12 months to 6 years), a slightly higher back rise especially in the smaller sizes, and a complete tutorial to make it easy to follow for beginners.
The joggers can be made in sweatshirt knit, french terry, cotton jersey and cotton lycra for the shorts, and optional rib knit for the waistband and cuffs. You can make some warm pants for the winter using a brushed back sweatshirt knit or some light and cool shorts for the summer which are perfect to use up remnants of knit that you have left from other projects.
The capri length version hits just below the knee and looks great on both boys and girls. Actually this is one of my son's favourite bottoms for the warm weather.
The medium length shorts hit just above the knee and look perfect on boys. The shorter length shorts hit mid thigh so they are not too short or revealing, making them super cute and comfortable for girls.
The updated pattern was thoroughly tested again and the testers were a great help for me to tweak and perfect the design and the tutorial. Take a look at their makes in the next blog post.
