Project Happy Holidays capsule collection
Project Happy Holidays is now available at Project Run and Play, and I had a great time sewing and photographing a small capsule collection for my daughter. I designed two patterns for this (the Cinnamon cardigan and the Jingle joggers) that go beautifully with the other patterns in the collection, and my girl loved all the outfits.
Here's all the pieces that I made:
two Blip turtlenecks
three Jingle joggers
three Cinnamon cardigans
one Cedar coat
The Blip turtleneck is a super fast sew, and the fit is perfect. I used two totally different jerseys from I Love Kutchi, and now I want to make them for myself too.
The firts Blip is the mock neck version, made in ribbed jersey. It's so soft that my daughter didn't want to take it off after the photos, and has been wearing it a lot since. The second is the folded neck version, made in a colourful viscose jersey with printed flowers.
Both Blips are perfect to layer with the Cinnamon cardigan, from which I made three, all in knitted fabric, one with a raindeer print and the other two in heathered grey and pink.
The Cinnamon cardigan includes a video sew-along to guide you in every step of the construction.
The Jingle joggers are perfect as sportswear or casualwear, and include a lot of options like different lengths, different hems, and pockets. But they also look great made in more "fancy" looking stretch fabrics such as stretch peach skin or ponte.
I made a version in dark blue stretch faux suede with golden zippered pockets, hemmed legs, and no topstitch in the waistband, and these are now officially my girl's favorite pants.
Another great pattern is the Prancer Pull On jeans, which are like regular jeans but with a stretch waistband and no zipper or button, making them practical and comfortable. I made one pair in stretch denim, with pink topstitching and I made a "J" on one back pocket for my daughter's name, Joana.
Now we needed a top layer and made a Cedar coat in the lined long version (view B). The outside is pink thin corduroy from I Love Kutchi, the lining is a warm cotton vyiela and the collar is white minky.
I decided to quilt the lining to make it extra warm, but I used the wrong kind of batting and it didn't turn out as I wanted. Lesson learned, right?
We love this collection and I'll be sewing these patterns many more times.
Go take a look at the gorgeous lookbook and shop the patterns on Project Run and Play and here in my shop.
