Project Run and Play's new collection is called Project Art Studio, and I got to sew a few of the patterns for my daughter. When I first think of art I see my girl surrounded by her art supplies and painting on canvas and notebooks. She loves paint brushes, oil pastels, acrylic paint, pencils and pens, and to browse around a good art supplies store.

The first pattern that I sewed from the collection was the Multi-Hue henley in the skater dress version. She'd been asking me for a twirly skirt for a long time, and this dress comes with a circle skirt. I used a ribbed velour knit for the skirt (provided by Katia Fabrics) and a cotton jersey for the top. I had intended to use the velour knit for another pattern, but when it arrived I realized that it was more lightweight than I though, so I used it for the skirt and it turned out perfect.

The henley top is very easy to sew thanks to the wonderful instructions, and my girl loves the new dress.

I also sewed the most perfect oversized cardigan, the Blank Canvas cardigan, in a soft brushed knit from Katia. The pattern includes three lengths with short or long sleeves. I made the hip length, and it is seriously perfect. I'm going to make more of these for sure

Then I sewed an Easel Tee and the Rocky Shore Tights. For the tee I made the cropped version in a soft cotton interlock jersey from Katia. For the tights I used a ribbed jersey from ilovekutchi. This is the perfect outfit for my daughter's dance lessons and she's wearing it today already.

Her favorite garment of the whole collection is the Easel Tee, and she didn't take it off after the photos. I'm going to have to sew some more. She put on some Metro pants with it and it turned out to be a pretty perfect combination as well.
