One Thimble magazine issue 18
- Todos os moldes são de designers independentes;
- Todos os moldes são testados (o que é uma garantia de qualidade);
Sometime after I started sewing I came across One Thimble magazine. I immediately liked it, and for me what sets it apart from other digital sewing magazines is this:
- All the patterns included in each issue are from indie designers;
- All the patterns are tested, which for me is a guarantee of quality;
- It always includes several interesting and in depth articles related to sewing.
I'm sure you already know it, but the magazine comes out four times per year, one issue for each season. It's Australian, which means that the seasons are opposite mine, but this is fine by me because that way I have time to choose and plan what I'm going to sew.
Being a fan of the magazine, I had wondered and wished if someday I could contribute a pattern. The proposals for issue 18 happened to be at the same time that I was planing on designing the Super Tough Jeans for my son, and the design matched the theme that Jen was going for. So I sent in a pitch for my pattern, and it was chosen. I was so happy!!!
This meant that it was time to dive into the design. I had deadlines and I couldn't miss them. Everything had to be done months before the magazine release, and I had a lot of work to do. I drafted the pattern, got all the files done, ran a pre-test to fine tune some details, and after that I ran a full test with a larger group. Everything was ready on time and sent to Jen. I could breathe, I had made it.
Vale bem a pena!
This issue includes several other sewing patterns for children, as well as two for women, and they all work together. The Jeans are perfect paired with the henley shirt or the Origami sweater. The skirt is perfect with the tie top and the sweater, which can also pair with the leggings. Every woman needs a tote bag, and every girl needs a twirly dress. The pillows are just dreamy. The magazine includes all the patterns, or they can be bought as single pdf patterns. It's a wonderful issue!
